Project Darkest Skullgirl

A UI exploration merging Darkest Dungeon 2’s combat system with a Skullgirls makeover. Read more about it here.

This WebGL playable demo is meant to give a better idea of how the UI looks in motion and how it reacts to player input. Since the project was discontinued, this build is of course not feature-complete, but it does come with a few small improvements and adjustments. A few things ot note for this build specifically:

  • Only the left team is playable. Fighters in the right team (grayed out, will skip their turns.
  • Some skill effects were omitted from this build and are therefore crossed out in the skill description. Move effects are present, but Token application and other special effects are not. A few tokens are applied at the beginning of the match for example purposes.
  • Fainted characters will still be targetable but will not take any more damage.

While the UI is entirely custom, to mimic the style of Skullgirls Mobile while serving the gameplay of Darkest Dungeon 2, the sprites and background come directly from and are property of Skullgirls, Autumns Games, Hidden Variable and Future Club.
